Dubai, UAE; 9 November 2011: Members of the local social media community based mostly in Dubai and Northern Emirates have pooled their resources to launch the first urban festival – TwingeDxb. The event to be held at WildPeeta Open Spaces, scheduled to run from 10 – 16 December 2011 will provide a platform for the talented people living in the community in various fields.

TwingeDxb will showcase a different field every day of the festival from 6 – 9 pm beginning with ‘Praise for Prose’ headlined by Alexander McNabb, author, Olives. The detailed schedule is available online. Other fields include Rhythm Sessions (music), Passion for Fashion (designers), Laughter therapy (stand up comics), Drama in Dubai (local drama groups), Magic of Poetry (local poets) and Reels of Dubai featuring local film-makers waiting in the wings.

Organiser Sherif Abaza said, “We have a lot of talent here and some of them just don’t have the resources to showcase their talent. We also know that there are people in this community that are not aware of what is available locally and that they do not necessarily need to head internationally when it’s right here on the doorstep. All of the work we will share will be original material.”

The backdrop of the event will be the work of local painter, Noha Mourad and photographer, Catalin Marin.

Local talent that want to participate should contact the organisers on Twitter, Facebook or on their website.
