Sims Recycling Solutions FZE (SRS), has been awarded the Environmental Performance Certificate (EPC) by the UAE Ministry of Environment and Water, in recognition of its outstanding efforts to comply with environmental protection standards and regulations to assure environmental sustainability during 2012.

This award comes in the week their Parent Company Sims Metal Management were designated for the fifth consecutive year in the Global Top 100 Most Sustainable Corporations at the 2013 World Economic Forum, this year placed at the 15th overall.

Kenneth Neil, Business Development Manager accepted the award from H. E. Dr Rashid Ahmed Bin Fahim, Minister of Environment and Water. The award recognises Sims contribution to the reduction of material going to the municipality landfills. The Ministry of Environment team learnt about Sims’ processes and the volumes of material it recycles both locally and on a Global scale. The criteria for receiving the award is that the company or organization must demonstrate how they are reducing environmental impact within the UAE and working to reduce the UAE’s environmental impact.
Critically, SRS were able to demonstrate that their handling processes maintained a full audit trail regarding how and where material was handled. Specifically compliance with International Standards and that SRS ensured no material was shipped to countries where the shipping of retired ICT assets could be deemed illegal or immoral.

This award is recognition that SRS are delivering environmentally friendly solutions to Organisations within the UAE for retired ICT, Telecoms, Electrical & Electronic assets, and reassures business that SRS are recycling their assets using world class processes and helping the UAE authorities reduce their reliance on landfill sites. Equally, UAE based companies working with SRS will now be able to show that their environmental impact has been reduced by working with us.

SRS are grateful to the Ministry and to Dubai Municipality for their support and are fully committed to utilise their Global experience and knowledge to support the Government of the UAE in relation to regulations relating retired ICT equipment to help ensure that together we lead the region in ensuring that these items are processed correctly and within International Laws.
