Internships are one of the major experiences that are suggested during your college years. As a business student, gaining job experience is critical to increasing your employability. That’s why I decided to hunt for internships following my first year at the American University of Sharjah.
I am currently undergoing a six-month internship with Market Buzz International, a communications agency. Market Buzz (in business since 2001) is an experienced communications agency, providing strategic consultancy for reputation building to businesses operating in the Middle East region, with a slew of high-profile clients. As a result, the first thing I had to do was sign non-disclosure agreements to ensure that their clients’ privacy and anonymity were protected. Following that, I was allocated a colleague with whom I would collaborate. At the conclusion of each week, I was supposed to report back to my superior and let her know what I had learned.
I have completed two months effectively, formed friendships with my co-workers, received feedback from my bosses, and for the first time, I was treated like a responsible and fully-grown adult. This remote internship has increased my capacity to work in a team and made me more patient. I’ve learnt a lot from this episode in my life that I wouldn’t have learned if life had gone on as usual.
As a result, I would encourage everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to accomplish an internship, even if it is not in the area in which you intend to work. On both a professional and personal level, there is a lot to gain from it.

My two months at The Market Buzz allowed me to not only grow as a person but also to learn new abilities in fundamental management and customer relations. I also obtained a better understanding of the communication sector, formed a new network, and acquired a few new contacts for future reference. But, most importantly, I developed a new feeling of professionalism and a better understanding of what it meant to be a professional
