Retailers meet vendors for prescheduled meetings

FUJAIRAH, UAE; 17 May 2011 – The seventh Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) Middle East & Africa (MEA) event, the only high-level channel gathering for vendors to reach the top IT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers in the MEA region, opened its doors to representatives from 60 international vendors covering a broad range of products in the IT and CE sector from accessories to high end home networking solutions and communications gadgets.

For the second year in a row, the event is headlined by Belkin as its Platinum sponsor along with Intel. Dell, Grand Stores, Kaspersky and Lenovo support the event as Gold sponsors while Cisco, Pro Technology, Asbis, ITE Distribution and NAVTEQ are Silver sponsors. More than 170 representatives from key retailers across the region have accepted their invitation to attend the event as DCC MEA guests.

“The MEA retail channel continues to evolve rapidly as vendors and distributors work hard to tap into growing demand across the region,” commented Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events, the company behind DCC MEA 2011. “Despite some volatility in some markets, we have seen a great deal of interest from the retailers for our event because it gives them the opportunity to meet key decision makers from the vendors directly and discuss the needs of individual markets.”

In addition to boardroom presentations, keynote speeches from GfK and Context on retail trends and one-on-one meetings, this year’s DCC MEA also includes the launch of GameStream11. Backed by Red Distribution, Microsoft and Sony, GameStream11 will use DCC MEA to inform the region’s retail channel about the latest developments in gaming technology, share go-to-market strategies and help them with consumer engagement.
