PARIS, ABU DHABI – DISTREE Events has confirmed a final deadline of Sunday May 3rd to enter the four submission-based awards, which form part of the ‘Middle East Retail Academy (MERA): 2015 Awards’ taking place at DISTREE Middle East 2015.

The annual MERA Awards celebrate excellence in the region’s technology and consumer electronics (CE) retail channel. The four categories are:
In-Store Experience of the Year
Customer Promotion of the Year
Product Launch of the Year
Marketing Initiative of the Year
Farouk Hemraj, Director and Co-Founder at DISTREE Events, said: “The quality of entries for the submission-based awards continues to rise each year. As always, we want to remind all companies of the deadline for submitting entries. If you don’t submit an application, you can’t win.”

All vendors, distributors and retailers operating in the Middle East are eligible to submit an entry for four submission-based awards. Companies can submit their entry packs online. All entries will be evaluated by a VIP Jury of independent channel experts during DISTREE Middle East 2015, with the winners announced at the event’s Gala Dinner on Wednesday May 13th.

“These awards are all about innovation and creativity in the Middle East retail channel. It is an opportunity for vendors, distributors and retailers to demonstrate their skills and highlight their finest moments of the last 12 months to the wider channel community,” added Hemraj.

Sharaf DG won two of the submission-based awards at last year’s MERA Awards, collecting the In-Store Experience of the Year Awards for its Techbench laptop support service for consumers in association with Microsoft. Sharaf DG also won the Customer Promotion of the Year Award for for its Gitex promotion offering a free BMW 316i with every purchase of an 84” Hisense ultra HD TV.

AJM Kooheji picked up the Product Launch of the Year Award in 2014 for its X-mini retail launch in Bahrain. OSN was selected for the Marketing Initiative of the Year Award in 2014 for its project with Disney, XD, Marvel and Mirdif City Centre to put on live stage shows in the mall to drive OSN sales and subscriptions.

“We want to make sure all retailers, distributors and vendors start work on their entries for these awards now,” added Hemraj. “It is a fantastic opportunity for marketing and PR teams to showcase a company’s specific skill sets and achievements. The Middle East technology and CE electronics retail channel is evolving fast and these awards will celebrate the companies leading this transformation.”
