As an active member of this community (Dubai, UAE, the Middle East), we feel strongly that we should give back, if not in money but at least in our time and skills.

One of the key projects we have been associated with has been Trekking for Nepal. We have been working with them quite closely in terms of where and how the money that we help raise in this region is being used for what they promised us they would use it for.

This project supports Mission Himalaya in helping to raise and give a new lease of life to around 40 children of varying ages. The most current project is to create a permanent orphanage – eco-friendly with a self sustaining farm.

As part of its ongoing  fundraising for Mission Himalaya, Trekking for Nepal is hosting Pirate Wars in Dibba on UAE’s East Coast to raise funds. The day-long event kicks off at 10 a.m. sharp from Dibba harbour on a 65-foot double-decker dhow, generously donated by Sheesa Beach Dhow Cruises. Pirate Games are organised by Absolute Adventure. There are prizes to be won from tea for two pirates at The Ritz-Carlton to lunch at WildPeeta, fun family day passes at Le Meridien Al Aqah and vouchers from Jacky’s Electronics.

Tickets including lunch on the beach and games are Dhs. 160 net (adults) and Dhs.110 (children 12 and under). Special offers on transport and overnight stays at Plantation Camp also available. Details on this and the whole day’s activities are to be found here.

For anyone that wants to help this very worthy cause,  call 050 5597359, email piratewarsuae@gmail.com or you can make online payments through Paypal on a special account we set up here.

So join us, support a good cause, have fun while you’re doing it.
