May 18, 2015 – Nuage Networks, the Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) venture focused on software-defined networking (SDN) solutions announced today it has partnered with Mirantis to accelerate the adoption and deployment of OpenStack clouds that fulfill the demanding needs of enterprises and cloud providers. As part of the Nuage Networks Ecosystem this technology partnership with Mirantis allows customers to take advantage of the scalability, performance, efficiency and policy-based automation of Nuage Networks’ SDN solution in Mirantis OpenStack cloud environments.
Nuage Networks and Mirantis are committed to accelerating efforts to drive the industry toward cloud architectures that meld efficient virtualization and application-driven software-defined networking (SDN) technology on an open technology platform – OpenStack. The work is a collaborative effort by Nuage Networks and Mirantis to leverage innovations from the community and to offer more choice to customers. Mirantis, the pure-play Openstack Company, joins Nuage Networks’ community of partners while Nuage Networks joins the Mirantis Unlocked program.
Many enterprises and service providers are trapped between the need to maintain existing service levels and the desire to become more competitive via new, open approaches. This relationship provides customers with the ability to innovate with new services that leverage OpenStack and other open approaches to gain new capabilities as well as additional efficiencies – without compromising the reliability of infrastructure that is critical to their business. Many new private clouds and public clouds are being built initially with OpenStack and customers are also migrating existing clouds to OpenStack.
The Nuage Networks Virtualized Services Platform (VSP) overlays the existing networking environment as it stands. The VSP virtualizes and automates data center network infrastructure, transforming it into a reflexive environment that instantaneously establishes the network services required to deliver cloud applications across thousands of tenants in a policy-driven manner. Nuage Networks VSP lays the foundation for an open and dynamically controlled data center network fabric to accelerate application programmability, facilitate unconstrained mobility, and maximize compute efficiency.
