Middle East, 18 April 2012: The Middle East Retail Academy (MERA) has launched a new award category for ICT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers operating in the Middle East. The new “In-Store Experience of the Year Award” will make its debut at the ‘MERA: 2012 Awards’ taking place in conjunction with DISTREE Middle East on May 16th in Fujairah, UAE. Retailers are invited to send in submissions for the award with the overall winner selected by a VIP Jury in the run-up to the awards ceremony. This is the second MERA award based on submissions from retailers.

“Shopping is still all about the personal experience in the Middle East and retailers in the ICT and CE market are coming up with innovative methods to attract customers to their outlets,” commented Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events. From a store-in-store concept through to an interactive demonstration zone, a unique POS display, superior service or an innovative retail layout, we want to find out who is leading the way in terms of the development of the In-Store Experience in the Middle East.”

To enter the inaugural MERA In-Store Experience of the Year Award, retailers must submit their nomination including information on the specific In-Store Experience covering the name, description, supporting photos or video and evidence of success. They should also share the timeline from creation to delivery of In-Store Experience retailers are nominating.

Retail submissions should be sent to stuart@distree.com before May 3rd 2012. Submissions will be judged on several criteria including: innovation, creativity, footfall created, impact on sales and overall market impact.

The VIP Jury will select the five most impressive entries for official nominations and these will be announced and highlighted throughout DISTREE Middle East event before an overall winner is announced on May 16th during the award dinner.
