Middle East, July 20, 2009: NEC Display Solutions has increased the lamp durability and filter cleaning intervals of its short-throw and NP series projectors for the education sector. This range of education-ready projectors already offers class-leading performance in terms of quality and lamp life and these new improvements further enhance NEC’s reputation for quality and ownership value.

Ian Gobey, the General Manager for NEC Display Solutions Middle East said, “NEC is a leading supplier of projection solutions to education and training customers in the region.  Improvements in TCO are central to retaining our (NEC) role as a go-to vendor with a reputation for operational reliability; a result of using only the highest quality components and materials. Low hardware failure rates also contribute to the superior TCO proposition already offered by NEC.”

As well as the procurement costs, operating costs are a key factor for users in the education and training sector. A significant proportion of these involve costs for replacement lamps. Thanks to technological developments, NEC has succeeded in increasing the service life of projector lamps from 4,000 to up to 5,000 hours. At the same time, design improvements and the use of innovative materials to construct filters, together with a modified structure, have extended the filter cleaning intervals to up to 1,500 hours (previously 500 hours). The filters improvements will offer specific advantages in the Middle East where fine dust can be an issue in some operating environments.

The improved equipment will be available from July. The lamps will now last for up to 5,000 hours, while the filter cleaning interval has been extended to up to 1,500 hours. These new developments apply to desktop projectors NP300, NP400, NP500, NP500W and NP600, as well as for short-throw models NP500WS and NP600S. Customers, in the education and training sector who are typically heavy users, will enjoy huge benefits from this increase in cost efficiency.

Supplied with NEC’s ECO Mode, the NP series of projectors also have lower power consumption and less wasted heat released into the environment, further increasing lamp life and reducing carbon footprint. ECO Mode also brings the audible noise down to a lower level, making it likely to be the preferred operating mode for most users in classrooms.

Added to the TCO leadership is the fact that all the models in the education line up are network capable, featuring NECs FREE PC Pro control utility software that enables thousands of projectors to be controlled via RJ45. In addition the Virtual Remote, another FREE software utility that means the projectors main functions can be controlled from the PC desktop rather than the hand held remote, combined with full Arabic language on-screen menus it is easy to see why NEC is the vendor of choice for many of the region’s leading education users.
