Middle East, 12 October 2010 – NEC IT Platform Solutions EMEA, a division NEC Corporation, announces the release of its new Express5800 servers range (Tower = T120b-E (new), T120b-M / Rack = R120b-1, R120b-2) which guarantees businesses tailor-made performance, control over their energy consumption, enhanced virtualization and better remote management.
NEC offers open and efficient servers at lower cost to help businesses to optimize their Total Cost of Ownership. This new range is aimed at businesses with simple or complex applications (from file servers, deployment of web/e-mail applications through to business applications and virtualization and consolidation solutions processing high volumes of data).

New features in the new Express5800 servers range include:
• Harmonization: common key components in all range models.
• The new NEC Express5800 servers provide the same technology in different configurations defined according to the business’s specific requirements.
• Double the performance: 2x more memory, 2x more disk space.
• “ExpressReport” proactive alert maintenance and early intervention service. This optional service aims to considerably reduce system downtime by automatically detecting problems via the “NEC Maintenance Center” service, and analysing and correcting system failures proactively.
• “Express Update” continuous update service. This integrated server functionality verifies installed versions (BMC, BIOS, Firmware, RAID SW, management software, etc.) on one or more servers and notifies administrators when new versions are available, so that these can be updated automatically.
Performance can be adapted to the requirements of the business’s applications: 63% on computing alone and 50% on business applications like ERP or databases. Thanks to the adoption of Intel technology, the new servers deliver a performance that’s 40% to 60% higher compared to the previous generation but with almost 40% less energy consumption.
Endowed with intelligent consumption that generates even more savings, the new NEC Express5800 range complies with NEC’s “Green IT” policy. This range supports various low-energy components such as 80 PLUS® power supplies, the low-voltage series of processors and SSD flash drives that provide much faster access than standard hard drives.
Furthermore, these new servers support Green Cooling technology, thereby minimizing the energy used to cool the system according to its thermal environment, workload and configuration. Finally, a new Power Control Technology feature is supplied as standard: this is a tool for managing energy consumption that monitors and optimizes the electricity consumption at any given moment on a single server or a group of platforms.
All NEC Express5800 servers are supplied as standard with the improved complete remote management solution EXPRESSSCOPE® Engine 2 and ESMPRO®. It allows you to monitor and control the operation of each server remotely via a Web browser regardless of the status of the OS and even when the platform is shut down. This limits the intervention required by technical teams, which minimizes support and administration costs, downtime and the company’s energy consumption. NEC Express5800 servers also come with the ExpressBuilder installation and configuration tool included as standard. It allows you to configure the server quickly and easily and keep the system up to date.
