Middle East, September 22, 2009: NEC Display Solutions has unveiled its latest range of entry-level projectors on the Middle East market. The new NP115 and NP210 DLP projectors are designed for corporate use, with the NP215 also being ideal for the education sector, thanks to its network connectivity. The new projectors also offer a variety of technical features, which lead to an excellent price-performance ratio and improved ease of use, such as increased lamp life, an auto-power-on-function or auto input detection.
Moreover, and consistent with NEC’s Green Vision Campaign, a number of eco-friendly features have been applied, too. The projectors’ environmental sustainability makes them real winners. The low power consumption of only 195W in Eco Mode (max. 233W with full brightness) makes these projectors particularly economical and eco-friendly. In standby mode, the devices only consume 0.7 W. This means that they already comply with the forthcoming EuP 2005/32/EC* directive, which comes into effect in January 2010.
“Also, when Eco Mode is enabled, the lamp life extends to up to 5,000 hours, thus reducing the TCO considerably,” said Ian Gobey, the General Manager of NEC Display Solutions, Middle East. “A Carbon Savings Meter calculates the amount of CO2 saved when the projectors are operated in Eco Mode. An optional message at system startup also encourages the user to select the energy-saving mode, which can be activated easily by pressing the green Eco button on the remote control.”
After use, the projectors can be switched off immediately. No cooling-down phase is needed. Various timer functions can also help ensure that projectors are only on when they are actually needed. In terms of usability, there are also a lot of remarkable properties. Due to the quick-start function, the projectors are ready for use in less than four seconds after being switched on. Meanwhile 12x optical zoom and +/- 40 degrees keystone correction offer flexible screen positioning.
BrilliantColor™ and VIDI technologies on the other hand, ensure bright, lifelike colour reproduction. The projectors deliver a brightness of 2,200 ANSI lumens (NP210) / 2,500 ANSI lumens (NP115 and NP215) respectively and a contrast ratio of 2,000:1. They support resolutions up to 1920-by-1080. The native resolutions are SVGA (NP115) and XGA (NP210 and NP215). The integrated 7W speakers enhance the multimedia functionality.
In normal operation the projectors generate a noise level of only 34 dB (31 dB in Eco mode), making them especially quiet. All models can be controlled via PC utilising the RS232 connection. Furthermore, with its integrated RJ45 interface, the NP215 enables quick and easy LAN connection. When it comes to packaging, NEC believes in the importance of environmentally friendly materials and uses only recycled cardboard. For the filler material, foam is no longer used – instead, recycled cardboard is used here. The operating instructions, which are available in eleven languages, can be found on the CD-ROM supplied, making printed manuals unnecessary.
*EuP 2005/32/EC: This eco-design directive, which comes into effect next year, states that projectors must consume less than 1 watt in standby mode or have a switch that enables them to be disconnected from the power supply completely.
Availability and warranty
The NEC NP115, NP210 and NP215 projectors are available in stores now. The package supplied includes a mini-D SUB signal cable, an IR remote control, a protective lens cap and a manual CD together with a quick-start guide. The NP215 additionally comes with a soft case. NEC Display Solutions offers a three-year warranty for these devices, plus a warranty period of six months or 1000 operating hours for the lamp. Extended warranty periods are available for devices and lamp.
