New projectors offer additional practical functionality including virtual remote control, programming and network connectivity designed specifically for network administrators and teachers

NEC Display Solutions has today expanded its portfolio of projectors for the education sector with the introduction of the NEC NP500WS and NEC NP600S short-throw projectors. These new projectors can project pictures with a diagonal of 60-inches from a distance of only one metre.

The two models – NEC NP500WS (wide format WXGA 16:10) and NEC NP600S – are particularly suited for education applications and training where interaction between the participants is best undertaken directly in front at the whiteboard. The product has been designed specifically to meet the needs of teachers and the administrators to ensure ease of use and maintenance, optimum TCO combined with NECs legendary reliability.

“These models are designed with the needs of the education user very much at the forefront of our thinking,” said Ian Gobey, Middle East GM for NEC Displays. “Some of the additional functions – like the virtual remote control – are particularly important for the education sector where the projector is generally used by multiple people and a single remote control unit can be inconvenient. NEC’s corporate experience in networking means that our products lead the way when it comes to network utility. RJ45 connectivity enables remote control and monitoring over a network and, used in conjunction with our PC Control Utility Pro 4, allows administrators to receive remote status update on operating time, lamp and filter usage and also features a scheduler and remote mail function”.

Additional practical features of the projectors include programming and alarm functions, Off-Timer, Quick On and Off, and Direct Power Off options. In addition, the NEC NP500WS and NEC NP600S have been equipped with an EcoMode function that increases lamp lifetimes from 3,000 hours to up to 4,000 hours.  When operating in Standby, the user also has the choice between normal standby and a special Power Safe mode featuring a power consumption of only 3 Watts. This ensures cost-efficiency as well as low operating costs. Ensuring reliability and protection against unauthorised access, the projectors have been secured with a Kensington Lock connector, password protection, a lockable keypad as well as a security bar.

With their low weight of only 3.3 kg the NEC NP500WS and NEC NP600S are ideal for fixed installations in educational facilities, or for mobile applications within companies.

These new projectors further extend the range of display solutions that NEC is offering to the education sector.  From network controllable desktop LCD displays that enable administrators to control and monitor the whole desktop population within the school or campus (a useful feature that can record asset details, report product malfunction and can lock and control display settings), to high quality commercial LCD for the expanding usage of digital signage in education. The addition of these two new projector products further expands NECs reputation as a leading display provider to the education segment.
