Dubai, U.A.E., 22 December 2009: NEC Display, leading manufacturer of quality imaging solutions, has introduced an update to its MDview series of clinical review displays.

The 21-inch NEC MDview 213 is ideally suited to view 3D images for surgical preparation, computed tomography images, cross-sections in nuclear medicine or ultrasound images, in conventional 4:3 monitor format.

"With the NEC MD213, medical professionals can now optimize the latest visualization technologies for diagnostics image reporting in radiography as well as CT, MRI and other medical imaging techniques." said Ian Gobey, General Manager of NEC Display Solutions Middle East. "The latest addition to our MDView family provides superb image representation, out-of-the-box installation for PACS workstations and modern ergonomic standards, enabling enhanced workflow efficiency."

The NEC MDview 213 is equipped with an S-PVA colour panel with a resolution of 1,600 x 1,200 pixels (2 Megapixels) and a pixel defect free central working area for superior image representation. Excellent image stability is guaranteed by the DUC (Digital brightness Uniformity Control) feature. The NEC MDview 213 is factory delivered with a preset DICOM (Digital Imaging and Communications in Medicine) curve, the required standard for medical digital imaging. This means the device is ready “out of the box” as a referral display for PACS (Picture Archiving and Communication System) workstations. In addition, a 12-bit Look-Up-Table enables accurate DICOM calibration, compliant with the DICOM Part 14 standard.

Individual calibration and regular constancy tests are straightforward with the aid of the GammaComp MD client software from NEC Display Solutions, supplied with every unit, and an optional photometer. With S-PVA TFT panel technology offering a viewing angle of 178 degrees horizontally and vertically, and a contrast ratio of 1,000:1, the monitor also provides excellent image representation, especially in multi-screen systems.

To allow medical display systems to be set up at workstations in line with modern ergonomic standards, the NEC MDview213 is height-adjustable by up to 150 mm. The panel can be rotated by 90°, and can even be tilted. VESA-compliant brackets also allow it to be mounted on a wall or on swivel arms. The monitor satisfies the optical requirements of Category B of the DIN V6868-57 standard and the AAPM TG-18 Guidelines for Secondary Class displays.

The NEC MDview213 is available with immediate effect through NEC Display Solutions as well as through certified medical trade resellers. NEC Display Solutions offers a three-year warranty which also covers the backlight.
