Dubai, UAE, 17 November 2009: NEC Display Solutions has launched the NEC MultiSync® EA222WMe, its first desktop LCD that uses white LED backlights. The 22-inch widescreen display utilises up to 50 percent less energy than conventional monitors, ideal for corporate users who attach great importance to responsible environmental protection as well as minimum TCO (Total Cost of Ownership).

“Being consistent with the Green Productivity promise of our Green Vision campaign, we want to provide and help our customers with their implementations to conserve energy and utilise energy efficiency through our technology,” said Ian Gobey, the General Manager of NEC Display Solutions, Middle East. “As part of our commitment to our Green Vision, the NEC MultiSync® EA222WMe provides the opportunity to a more responsible environmental protection as it enables corporate users utilise up to 50 percent less energy than most conventional monitors.”

In addition to the white LED backlights, the MultiSync® EA222WMe features all the innovative and appreciated eco features of the MultiSync® EA range. The inbuilt ambient light sensor automatically adjusts the screen brightness to match the varying lighting conditions at the workplace. This ensures ergonomic and energy efficient usage. With a single push of the NEC One-Touch Eco Button, the user can switch the monitor to Eco mode, reducing the low energy consumption yet further. A carbon savings meter calculates and totals CO2 savings that have been achieved by operating the monitor in Eco mode, thereby encouraging the user to save energy.
The MultiSync® EA222WMe is also extremely user-friendly. It can be tilted and swivelled and features height adjustment of up to 110 mm, as well as a pivot function, enabling the display to be used in portrait format. With additional mounting holes on the backside, the monitor can be lowered to the same level as the screen of an adjacent notebook. The integrated handle makes it easier to lift the monitor out of the packaging and reduces the risk of damage to the monitor when carrying it.

The MultiSync® EA222WMe equipment package is rounded off by two integrated loudspeakers and numerous interfaces for future-proof compatibility. In addition to the mini D-sub and DVI-D connections, the monitor also features a DisplayPort interface. This final connector is a compact, screw-free and easy-to-use digital plug connection for the video signal, which is being rapidly adopted across the IT industry. It facilitates higher bandwidths and thus higher resolutions, as well as longer connection cables. A powered USB Hub enables the user to connect USB devices, e.g. a keyboard, directly via the monitor.
Independent certifications confirm the outstanding ecological and ergonomic quality of the MultiSync® EA222WMe. It holds the TCO 5.0 certificate and also satisfies all the criteria of the recently updated Energy Star 5.0 label. Moreover, it conforms to the EPEAT™ Gold (black model), or the EPEAT™ Silver standard (white-silver model).
