Leading removable data storage media vendor recognised by peers for second year in a row

Imation, a world-wide leader in removable data storage media, has again been nominated in the Middle East Retail Academy:2009 (MERA) Awards to be hosted on the 20th May in Fujairah.  The Awards, held in conjunction with the fifth annual Digital Consumer Channel Middle East & Africa event, recognises excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and IT retail channel.  Selected by his peers for a second consecutive year, Imation’s Channel Development Manager, Kiran Nair is once again a nominee in the ‘Channel Manager of the Year’ category.  The nomination is Imation third in two years and marks their continued selection since the inaugural MERA Awards in 2008.

“To gain recognition from our industry peers for a second year running is unbelievable,” said Riyaz Abdulla, Regional Manager – MEEA & SAARC at Imation. “I am in no doubt when I say that our business has significantly benefited from the trust and support that our retail partners have provided us with and we would like to thank them for their continuing belief. Furthermore, this recognition is a shining endorsement of our work within this channel and we will continue to advance our efforts, and maintain our high levels of service.”

With twenty-two awards this year for vendors, retailers and retail distributors, the MERA Awards have expanded since 2008, with an additional eight awards now up for grabs.  Established to create a clear and transparent platform to recognise excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and ICT channel, the MERA Awards are based on an independent, peer-based voting system. An executive committee made up of representatives from the retail industry decide on the shortlist of five nominees for each award category, with live electronic voting during the awards ceremony deciding the final winners.
