Middle East, 19 May 2009 – Imation Europe today announces the expansion of its Apollo portfolio of external hard drives with the Apollo Expert and Apollo Pro. For laptop users, the 2.5-inch Apollo Expert UX offers 320GB and 500GB of capacity in a pocket-sized drive. The 2.5-inch drive is covered in a protective removable skin to prevent scratches and abrasions. The 3.5-inch Apollo Pro UX provides desktop users with capacity up to 1.0TB.
“Compatible with Mac and PC computers, these drives are for the heavy data users who need greater speed and reliability,” said Kiran S Nair, Channel Development Manager MEEA (Middle East and east Africa), Imation. “We have seen the trend for storage grow exponentially in the Middle East and the new additions to the Apollo range should appeal to this growing segment of consumers.”
Both drives include integrated stands for vertical or horizontal usage. Other features include low capacity/data activity indicator lights for easy identification of data processes and built-in power save mode for energy conservation. In addition, Apollo Expert UX and Apollo Pro UX offer one-touch backup sync buttons with software for simple, automatic backup. The drives are compatible with specific applications including Apple Time Machine.
The plug-n-play format enables users to transfer data from any computer with a USB 1.1 or 2.0 port. Both drives include an Imation designed controller board to offer higher reliability for demanding users.
Apollo Expert UX 2.5 is the winner 2009 of ‘the Art of Storage award’ at the Eighth Annual Storage Visions Conference (partner program to the 2009 International CES) in Las Vegas. The Portable Hard Drive was recognized to have the best-in-class aesthetics, ease of use and industrial design.
