A total of 37 separate distribution companies have been successful in receiving formal nominations for the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2009 Awards’ – a result that underlines the continued variety of national, regional and international companies serving the EMEA channel. More than one hundred channel-facing senior vendor executives selected their preferred distributors by region within EMEA to determine the nominees.

“The fact that so many different distributors have secured nominations is testament to the diversity of the EMEA channel; it remains an interconnected theatre made up of multiple markets – each with their own character and channel community,” explained Farouk Hemraj, director at the EMEA Channel Academy. “Vendors have nominated distributors based on a number of criteria including sales growth, channel breadth, credit facilities, financing, stock management, logistics, market development and reseller engagement. Those distributors with the highest number of votes have been put forward for the final round of voting.”

A total of nine awards will be handed out to distributors during the ‘EMEA Channel Academy: 2009 Awards’ gala dinner, which is taking place in Monaco on February 11th in conjunction with DISTREE XXL -EMEA’s premier event for the distribution channel and vendor community.

Tech Data leads the way with four separate award nominations – including its Computer 2000 operation in the UK – with Ingram Micro securing three. Both Elko and Actebis received two nominations apiece while 33 distributors secured nominations for one regional award.

There are five nominees for each of the EMEA Channel Academy distributor awards with the exception of Southern Europe where only four distributors surpassed the minimum votes required for a formal nomination.
