Middle East, June 2010: The IT Platform Division for EMEA of NEC Corporation has been selected to provide the entire expanded IT infrastructure of El Araby Group, which includes a call centre for 150 users, IT infrastructure for several new office buildings, and the El Araby Medical Centre Hospital in Egypt.

El Araby Group is one of the largest corporate enterprises in the region, with over 16,000 employees, activating in 7 different industries and revenue of over $750,000,000 USD.  Due to a very complex IT architecture, El Araby was looking for a reliable IT provider, capable of offering a robust and easy to manage solutions to insure data security and high availability, in the same time to be able to adapt to the company’s growth. Another mandatory aspect of their decision referred to TCO reduction.

NEC proved to have the most comprehensive offer compatible with El Araby IT infrastructure needs. The project consists of four fully loaded Flexpower blade solutions, installed in various locations, plus three separate file servers – one for each new location. Also included in the solutions are three NEC FC SAN storage units, three NEC tape libraries for backup and 150 NEC thin clients for the call centre.

“We are excited about this investment and we look forward to the benefits of using NEC Solutions for our IT infrastructure,” said Walid Bakr, Group IT Manager for El Araby Group. ‘’With solutions from NEC we completed our needs in terms of data security and availability, reducing TCO, flexibility and working efficiency."

According to Bakr, thin client is a great option because it offers high data security and is very durable as well as being low maintenance which is some of the most important factors companies look for when investing in IT equipment. Meanwhile NEC Flexpower blades offer higher level of availability, thanks to its sub-assemblies and hot swaps, and in the same time reduce time and implementation costs. NEC’s D3-10 Storage Array is a mid-range model that offers excellent performance and reduces TCO, including support for a 144 disk SAS/SATA configurations that meets our company demands of differing quality of service requirements.

"Data security and downtime can cost businesses a lot, which is why we always try to understand how we can support our customers and provide them with IT solutions that significantly reduce TCO, improve business continuity and increase ROI (return on investment)," said Lenia Iacovides, Managing Director for interFRONTIERS, the NEC ITPS’ business development unit for EMEA region. "El Araby is also a major partner of NEC since 2004 and we are pleased to assist them and invest in growing our businesses together."
