Fujairah, UAE, 15 May 2012: The 8th DISTREE Middle East (ME) channel event, formerly known as Digital Consumer Channel Middle East & Africa, opened its doors this year to a record number of attendees. The event, the only high-level channel gathering allowing vendors to effectively reach the top IT and consumer electronics (CE) retailers in the MEA region, has attracted more than 200 retail buyers from more than 130 companies to meet 75-plus international vendors. These vendors cover a broad range of products in the IT and CE sector from accessories to high end home networking solutions and communications devices.

This year’s event is headlined by Platinum Sponsors Intel, Lenovo & Microsoft, and also supported by BDL, Dell, Grand Stores, Kaspersky and Norton by Symantec as Gold Sponsors. Asbis, Cisco, Max Electronics, Samsung and Targus are all participating as Silver Sponsors.

With the increase in the total number of vendors, DISTREE ME has expanded its popular Hospitality Zone to two floors within the Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort. The Hospitality Zone, separate from the main exhibition area, offers private meeting rooms for vendors to use. Retailers are issued with a special ‘Hospitality Zone Passport’ that tracks their progress and offers rewards based on the number of vendor meetings they participate in within the Hospitality Zone.

In addition to boardroom presentations, keynote speeches and one-on-one meetings, this year’s DISTREE ME also includes the return of the GameStream Alliance. Backed by Microsoft, Sony, Pluto and Red Distribution, GameStream12 will inform the region’s retail channel about the latest developments in games technology, share go-to-market strategies and help them with consumer engagement.
