Distributors selected based on channel management strategy, inventory management, margin potential, co-marketing schemes, merchandising activity, logistics and support for the retail sector

DISTREE Events, the organisers of leading Information Communications Technology events in the EMEA region, has announced the nominees for the two Distributor awards categories in the upcoming Middle East Retail Academy (MERA): 2009 Awards. The Distributor categories include Volume Retail Distributor of the Year – Middle East and Specialist Retail Distributor of the Year – Middle East.

A selection committee made up of the region’s leading retailers decided on the pre-selection of the five nominees for each of the distributor award categories. The shortlisted nominees were selected based on their channel management strategy, inventory management, margin potential, co-marketing schemes, merchandising activity, logistics and support for the retail sector. The short listed nominees are:

Specialist retail distributor of the year: ITE Distribution, LS2 DERINTON L.L.C., Ashley LLC, Pluto Games and Genius Computer Technology Ltd

Volume retail distributor of the year: Emitac Distribution LLC, Redington, FDC International FZE, ASBIS and Al Yousuf Digital LLC

The final live electronic voting takes place at the ‘MERA: 2009 Awards’ Gala Dinner, held in conjunction with Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA 2009 on May 20th 2009 in Fujairah, UAE.

“Each and every nominee in this category should be proud to be on this list because they have been voted by their (retail) partners across the region,” said Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events, the awards organiser. “This year has seen some very trying times and as market demands change, these distributors have ensured that they have maintained a strategy that has helped their partners succeed. We look forward to meeting all of them at the MERA Awards Gala Dinner.”

The MERA Awards were launched in 2008, creating a clear and transparent platform to recognise excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and ICT channel, with awards for vendors, distributors and retailers. There are a total of 22 ‘MERA: 2009 Awards’ with five nominees selected for each accolade. The awards are held in conjunction with DCC MEA, where pre-qualified ICT and CE retail executives from across the Middle East market will have the opportunity to review the latest products from the 50-plus vendors set to attend this year’s event. With retailers from 15-plus countries across the MEA region attending DCC MEA, the event offers vendors insight into markets across the region and the opportunity to accelerate or improve their go-to-market retail strategy.
