Etisalat and Pluto are Platinum Sponsors supported by Gold Sponsors HTC, Navteq and Sandisk, and Silver Sponsors Asbis, HP and Dell join record 59 vendors in fifth event

Middle East, 19 May. 09: His Highness Shaikh Mohammed bin Hamad bin Mohammed Al Sharqi, the Crown Prince of Fujairah, today inaugurated Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) MEA 2009. This is the fifth consecutive year that the fast-growing event will be staged in the Emirate of Fujairah. DCC MEA has firmly established itself as the premier annual event for the regional retail channel.

Etisalat and Pluto are Platinum sponsors of DCC MEA 2009. The event is also supported by Gold sponsors HTC, Navteq and Sandisk, plus Silver Sponsors Asbis, HP and Dell. This year’s DCC MEA runs from May 19th to 21st and takes place at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah.

This year’s DCC MEA event will see 55 vendors showcasing the latest in IT and consumer electronics products to hundreds of senior retail executives from across the region. The Middle East’s top retail distributors will also be present at this influential annual event for the entire industry.

“We have been very fortunate to enjoy the support of the Government of Fujairah since the launch of DCC MEA,” said Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events, the organisers of DCC MEA. “We expect more than 300 senior executives to attend this year’s event and we look forward to staging DCC MEA in Fujairah for many years to come.”

Headline speakers at this year’s DCC MEA include Pascal Bollon, GfK’s Global Director of IT, offering deep insight and analysis into the current market conditions. Richard Adams, MENA Consumer Consulting Analyst at Datamonitor will also participate as a keynote speaker offering retailers constructive advice on how to survive and prosper during turbulent economic times.

A dozen vendors and distributors will also take to the stage during DCC MEA to participate in the event’s unique Talk Show sessions. This format offers participants an opportunity to communicate their retail strategy to the entire event audience before answering a series of questions from the session host.

DCC MEA continues to go from strength to strength, offering a compelling mix of one-on-one meetings, conference sessions, awards and networking opportunities for retailers, distributors and vendors. The event offers a powerful platform for thousands of pre-scheduled one-on-one meetings between delegates.

The ‘Middle East Retail Academy: 2009 Awards’ Gala Dinner and live voting session will also take place at DCC MEA on 20th May 2009. The awards recognise excellence in the region’s consumer electronics and IT retail channel. A total of 22 awards are up for grabs in 2009 with categories for vendors, retailers and distributors.
