Fujairah, UAE; 19 May 2011: DISTREE Events, the organisers of Digital Consumer Channel (DCC) Middle East & Africa (MEA), the region’s leading ICT and consumer electronics (CE) event, today announced the winning retailers in ten countries across the Middle East at the Fourth ‘Middle East Retail Academy (MERA): 2011 Awards’ hosted at Le Meridien Al Aqah Beach Resort in Fujairah.
Alghanim win Retailing Initiative award
Carrefour won in four out of ten countries while Alghanim was selected for the coveted ‘Retailer Marketing Initiative of the Year Award’ by a VIP Jury of industry analysts and channel consultants.This year’s retail category winners at were selected based on their performance in the MERA Monthly Monitor Report (MMR) service that gives vendors, retailers and distributors the opportunity to express their opinions on market conditions every month. In each country, three retailers were awarded ‘Recommended Retailer’ status with the top retailer – based on number of MMR mentions – named as overall country winner.
“Our MMR report has created a significant database of continuous, updated information that was used to help determine retailer winners for the ‘MERA: 2011 Awards’,” explained Farouk Hemraj, CEO at DISTREE Events, the organisers of the awards. “All of the MERA ‘Recommended Retailers’ deserve recognition for their overall business performance during the last 12 months.”
DCC MEA 2011 is headlined by Belkin and Intel as its Platinum sponsors. Dell, Grand Stores, Kaspersky and Lenovo support as Gold sponsors while Cisco, Pro Technology, Asbis, ITE Distribution and NAVTEQ are Silver sponsors.
