Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design,
development and manufacturing of storage, wireless networking and memory
solutions, has retained the number one spot in the consumer network storage
market. In-Stat’s latest report, Global Consumer Network Storage: Say Goodbye
500GB, Hello 2TB, confirms Buffalo’s
continued market leadership ahead of its competitors Western Digital, Iomega
and Hewlett Packard (HP). The report reveals that other than Buffalo
Technology, networking-centric companies did not fare as well in 2008 as
traditional storage companies.

In-Stat’s
research found that:

  • The worldwide consumer network
storage market grew by 24 per cent in 2008
  • The Europe, Middle
East and Africa (EMEA) market is expected to outshine all other
regions in growth from 2008 to 2013
  • Among the consumer survey
respondents, nearly one half of network storage owners use the drives to play
digital music and over a quarter use the drives to play digital video.

In-Stat’s
report also highlights that consumers are increasingly purchasing devices with
higher storage capacities and moving away from 500GB in favour of 1TB and 2TB
models.

“As an
innovator, Buffalo Technology has always stood out in the crowd and this report
confirms that we are indeed in tune with our customers’ needs,” confirmed Jasem
Al Roomi, Director at Buffalo Advantec FZCO. “Leading the consumer network
storage market for the fourth consecutive year demonstrates our commitment to
providing customers with the best NAS products out there. We are delighted to
be leading the way in this growing marketplace and continue to develop
solutions that evolve with customer needs.”
