New LinkStation™ firmware introduces support for Squeezebox and Android remote access

Middle East, 04 April 2011: Buffalo Technology, a global leader in the design, development and manufacturing of storage, wireless networking solutions introduces the new LinkStation™ Quad that features four RAID enabled Hard Drives in one unit. The new LinkStation™ Quad also heralds the introduction of new network access support for the Logitech™ Squeezebox and WebAccess™ support for Android™.

The new LinkStation™ Quad comes power-packed with 4 hard drives that can be configured in RAID 0 for performance or RAID 5 for redundant storage; so, if a hard drive fails, your data is safe.

With the addition of WebAccess for Android, users can access and share multimedia files from anywhere at any time using Buffalo’s WebAccess. This is a feature that allows users to easily stream digital content stored on any Buffalo network storage solution from anywhere in the world via a Web browser, or using the newly announced free WebAccess app, via an iPhone®, iPad®, iPod touch® and now with support for Android SmartPhone.

Another network accessibility feature added is the Logitech Squeezebox support preinstalled in the product. A user can now stream their favourite music and videos directly from the LinkStation™ Quad to a computer or Logitech Squeezebox, PS3®, Xbox 360® or network attached DLNA or UPnP media player or Buffalo LinkTheater.

Jasem Al Roomi, Director at Buffalo Advantec FZCO said, “Buffalo are evolving their solutions to include accessibility functions to almost all devices that can or need access to a Network Attached Storage. Our WebAccess feature now covers most of the common platforms being used the world over, and we are working to include all the platforms that can be used to access data being stored on Buffalo network attached devices. In addition, we have given all existing LinkStation™ users to upgrade their firmware to support the new accessibility features of the new LinkStation™ Quad.”
