Dubai, UAE, 3 May 2010: UAE’s second BarCamp styled event, entitled DoCamp, is to be hosted onSaturday, 8th May 2010 at Block 1, DKV Conference Halls with support from Dubai Internet City. Based on the popular BarCamp events, DoCamp is an un-conference aimed to emphasize action.

BarCamp is an international network of user generated conferences (or unconferences) – open, participatory workshop-events, whose content is provided by participants. BarCamp traditionally provides the platform for sharing, discussing, creating, collaborating, debating and enhancing new ideas from committed individuals and groups of people.
DoCamp is looking for project suggestions and for the leaders to register these on its web site. The ideas with the most responses online would be shared in open and collaborative sessions with a diverse group of participants. The projects can fall under any category including technology, design, sustainability, telecom, media or even a charity. The site has already registered several sessions and voting has already begun.
To participate in DoCamp and vote for the three best ideas, potential participants are encouraged to register here
The first edition of BarCamp was held in the UAE on May 9th, 2009. The open encouragement to share everything about this event is in deliberate contrast to the "off the record by default" and "no recordings" rules at many private invite-only participant driven conferences. Last year’s event had over 40 participants from diverse backgrounds and skill sets discussing topics like Social translation, Social media ethics, Virtualization, Software productivity tools, Design thinking and Sustainable living to name a few. The event was also attended by over 150 virtual participants on the live web stream.
DoCamp is organized by volunteers who are looking to collaborate with broadminded and forward thinking organizations that seek to empower community initiatives.
