This blog is for all those that do not think twice about sending large files over an email. A few years ago this would have been forgiven but not now. Unless you have been living under a rock, you have used technology and to some extent aware of all the dos and don’ts about email etiquette.

However, there are still people out there that seem to go out of their way to be completely oblivious to the etiquette of attachments and surprisingly in our world of communications. So here are a few quick tips I found on NetM@nners.com’s excellent post on the subject.

Just because you have a fast machine (and we are talking about the gamers and the MAC users)does not mean your recipient has one or that they have a fast Internet connection. If your attachment is larger than 1MB, use free services like www.yousendit.com that allow you to send file sizes up to 100MB free. There are online storage services or services like Dropbox that allow you to create a back up online and set up public folders to share large files.

So please resist that temptation to send a 5MB file as an attachment! You are sure to piss off editors if you do.
