Middle East — September 21, 2011: Market research firm Gartner, Inc. placed Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) in the Leaders Quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Unified Communications” report, published August 22, 2011 and authored by Bern Elliot and Steve Blood.

According to the report, “The Leaders quadrant contains vendors selling comprehensive Unified Communications (UC) suites that are coupled with broad communications and collaboration portfolios and strong technology partnerships. These vendors, and their channel partners, have experience delivering UC to a broad range of enterprise types and into most geographic regions. These vendors are using their solution sets to enter new clients into their client rosters and to expand their footprints in their client basis in new functional areas.”

Alcatel-Lucent’s new OpenTouch communications platforms leverage an open architecture approach that delivers conversations across the enterprise. OpenTouch enables enterprises to respond to the consumerization of enterprise communications by delivering multi-party, multi-device, multi-media collaboration and applications. OpenTouch supports voice, video, text and instant messaging across smartphones, tablets and PCs with the ability for users to seamlessly move across devices with context – this includes Alcatel-Lucent and third-party devices.

Enterprises benefit from more meaningful, outcome-driven communications that maximize resources and innovation, while reducing operational cost. Enterprise IT staff benefit from the solution’s unified management capabilities, which eliminate the multiple management systems currently needed to run unified communications applications. Now, the IT department can define users with a fraction of the previous set of parameters from a central point, all performed in real time to make new communication solution rollouts faster and easier.

“We are honored to be placed in the leader’s quadrant for Unified Communications,” said Nicolas de Kouchkovsky, Chief Marketing Officer, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise. “Our new OpenTouch platforms are key enablers of our vision to change the conversation for employees and customers, and we believe our strategy and vision are on the right track.”
