Sharm El Sheikh, 4th December 2011 – The FTTH Council Middle East and North Africa held on November 30 and December 1, 2011 its 3rd edition of its annual conference under the patronage of His Excellency, Dr. Mohamed Salem, Minister of Telecommunications and Information Technology of Egypt represented by Dr. Amr Badawi, CEO of National Telecom Regulator Authority (NTRA).

The benefits and the acceleration of the FTTH deployment in the MENA region were debated through specific Panel sessions who gathered important keynotes speakers from Egypt like Dr Amr Badawi, CEO of NTRA, Mr Ahmed Ossama Managing Director of TEDATA and Mr Waseem Arsany, CEO of Link Dot Net as well as Mr Faris Awartani President of the FTTH Council MENA.

“Fibre to the Home is key to a sustainable future, ensuring a healthy environment for socioeconomic development.”, concluded Mr Awartani, President of FTTH Council MENA in this message to the participants, “we believe that FTTH is leading the new generation and the way to innovation and technology. In this era of change, our region is in great need for a future-proof infrastructure in order to answer the requirements of the new emerging perspectives.”

For the third year and despite the latest events of the region the FTTH Council MENA witnessed another success during the conference in Sharm El Sheikh and was proud to receive speakers, exhibitors, supporting partners and delegates from North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and of course the Middle East and Africa who made it again the biggest FTTH Event in the region.

“FTTH, Leading the new Generation” was the theme of the conference for 2011 who inspired the participants with a high-quality conference program for two days and who listened to the voice of the FTTH industry which is leading the new generation to a smarter world and bringing people back to their connected homes. In addition analysts presented the latest FTTH deployment and figures including the regulatory initiatives in the MENA region and in the world.
In the exhibition area the FTTH industry leaders such as Alcatel Lucent, Prysmian Group, Huawei, Energya Solutions, R&M and more than 10 other exhibitors showed their latest products and solutions in terms of Fibre to the Home and Fibre in the Home.

After Amman in 2009, Beirut in 2010 and Egypt in 2011, the FTTH Council MENA Board members were happy to announce during the conference the next location for their 2012 conference to be in Doha, QATAR!
