The 2012 Best of Interop award for Collaboration was presented to Alcatel-Lucent (Euronext Paris and NYSE: ALU) for its innovative OpenTouch™ Conversation (OTC) solution on iPad at Interop Las Vegas. This is the second year in a row for Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise to be recognized in Best of Interop, last year was for its Data Center Switching Blueprint solution in the Data Center & Storage category. Alcatel-Lucent demonstrated its OpenTouch Conversation at Interop.

OpenTouch Conversation software unifies the features of personal smart devices together with the voice, video and data services of the enterprise into one seamless conversation experience. The judges noted the solution was recognized for its ease of use and its ability to work on multiple, popular devices.

OTC enables employees to seamlessly switch between their office phone, PC, mobile device, or tablet based upon the needs and situation of a conversation with one or multiple parties with a single finger tap, slide or mouse click. Users of the solution can move between messaging, data sharing, voice and video collaboration as well as access any combination of modes simultaneously in addition to adding or deleting conversation participants along the way.

Alcatel-Lucent has worked to make OpenTouch Conversation a user-friendly interface that looks and acts the same across all device screens. On screen a user can see a graphical timeline of recent, current and future conversations, pictures of their current key contacts and a “stage” where their current conversation(s) takes place. Real-time rich presence information about the user and potential conversation partners is displayed so the status of all concerned is immediately visible. OTC-enabled devices can readily talk, video, share data and instant message with non-OTC-supported devices.

Eric Penisson, Vice President and General Manager, Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise said: “As the world of communications and mobility continue to merge, solutions like OpenTouch Conversation enable enterprises to bridge the popular use of personal devices [BYOD] with day to day business. Being recognized with the Best of Interop award for OTC validates Alcatel-Lucent’s continued innovation that helps businesses change the conversation and improve employee productivity and customer service. We are thrilled to be a winner for a second year in a row.”
