MIDDLE EAST, October 28, 2010 – Fortinet® (NASDAQ: FTNT) – a leading network security provider and the worldwide leader of unified threat management (UTM) solutions – today announced that it has been positioned by Gartner, Inc., in the leaders quadrant of the “Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management” report. Fortinet is recognized for both its “completeness of vision” and “ability to execute” based on evaluation of its FortiGate® multi-threat security appliances.
According to the Gartner report, the continued evolution of threats, as well as audit and regulatory demands, will require businesses to move toward the more advanced features of UTM, which include multiple security functions in a single appliance. Quantifying this growth, the Gartner report states that in 2009, the worldwide UTM market was worth approximately $1.5 billion, representing 25% growth over Gartner’s 2007 estimate, with a forecast of 20% to 25% compound annual growth rate through 2012. This market is largely driven by turnkey appliance solutions, although there are pure software UTM solutions available.
Also, as the report’s authors state: “Vendors in this quadrant lead the market in offering new safeguarding features, and in enabling customers to deploy them inexpensively without significantly affecting the end-user experience or increasing staffing burdens. These vendors also have a good track record of avoiding vulnerabilities in their security products. Common characteristics include reliability, consistent throughput, and a product that’s intuitive to manage and administer.”
“Since pioneering the UTM market 10 years ago, Fortinet has helped to address the security needs of more than 100,000 customers worldwide, including the majority of the global Fortune 100 enterprises,” said Ken Xie, founder, president and CEO of Fortinet. “We believe that our position as a leader in Gartner’s Magic Quadrant for Unified Threat Management is further testament to our steadfast commitment to innovation, as well as meeting the evolving security requirements of all-sized enterprises, telecommunication carriers and service providers.”
