EMEA’s premier event for ICT distributors logs 4000-plus pre-booked meetings during three-day event in Barcelona; 

Special match-making system handles over 9000 meeting requests

BARCELONA: 27 January 2008— DISTREE XXL 2008, the largest annual event
for the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) distribution channel,
opened its doors today with a record 4000-plus one-on-one confirmed
meetings between participating vendors and distributors. The special,
online scheduling system logged over 9000 meeting requests from its
registered international vendors and select EMEA distributors. 366
distributors from across the EMEA region are attending the event to
meet representatives from 92 vendors participating at DISTREE XXL
scheduled to run 27th to 30th January 2008 in Barcelona.

DISTREE XXL has a special ‘Post Office’ and ‘Matching Squad’ that will
handle additional requests during the course of the event. Additional
requests on site will be submitted through the online system or to the
“post office” on site. These requests are processed immediately using a
combination of the online system, and phone calls by the dedicated
‘Matching Squad’ team to ensure optimum use of both vendors’ and
distributors’ time at the event

“One of the key value additions we offer at our events is the special
online system that schedules and pre-books one on one meeting requests
and confirmation between our participating international vendors and
our invited distributors,” commented Farouk Hemraj, executive director
at DISTREE Events. “We anticipate receiving and processing over 2000
additional requests during the conference, especially for our special
D2D (distributor to distributor) programme and the media.”

In addition to the one-on-one meetings, DISTREE XXL will host a special
keynote presentation by Isabel Aguilera, former CEO of Google Spain, in
one of her first public speaking engagements since leaving the internet
giant. Other special presentations include a special EMEA retail market
report from Pascal Bollon of Gfk. There are two panel discussions
scheduled during the three-day event – one each for vendors and
distributors – as well as workshops on some key EMEA channel issues
including special sessions on Middle East and African markets.

DISTREE XXL will also host its annual Channel Initiative Awards along
with its special Product Design and Product Innovation awards, voted by
the attending distributors based on “60 seconds to convince”
presentations made by the short listed nominees.
